Pokemon Roleplay

Shortly after the doors had opened, a small child came bounding into view of the complex, a shoulder bag nearly his own size flailed wildly in evidence of how much it threw off his balance in the run.
The boy, Douglas, had arrived in Pallet town days earlier. On the eventful day however, he had lost track of time playing near the water at the southern end of town. When he finally reached the lab, his feet slide to a stop and nearly ca,e tumbling down from a final jerking motion of his bag. His hands came to rest on his knees as he heavily caught his breath. Seconds later however, he realized that were others near him and as if on instinct he stifled his breath, stood up straight, and bat the dirt off his clothes, before at last turning to face the laboratory’s welcoming doorway.

Kenji would enthusiastically run towards the chairs, quickly grabbing one as he would take his seat. "I've been waiting for a while. Let's hope I get a water type!" he would think to himself, crossing his fingers as he looked towards the others near him, waiting for the rest of them to gather around.

Gabriel entered slowly and curiously, he examined the room as he stopped. Looking to the others who entered, then to the Pokeballs on the rack, he waited anxiously for the moment he would get his Pokemon. Noticing the chairs, he walked wearily toward them, the travel from Vermillion was having an effect on his body. "I can't believe I'm going to have a Pokemon." he muttered as he sat down on the chair, his hair from the sides fell forward, draping over his forehead for moments as he rocked his head back in wait.

Jean came in as silently as he left his house. Finally, Pidgey and I together! Or, you know, some other flying type. It hadn't occurred to Jean that the Professor didn't have a flying type in the rack of pokeballs. The odds of one being Pidgey.. Now that he thought about it, he was fine with any pokemon. That is, at least, what he had told himself. The boy took a seat, listening intently to whatever the professor had to say, zoning himself out so that only he and the professor were in the room.

"Well I would give you the long speech, but I'll save that for after you claim your Pokemon." The Professor said with a smile. He motioned to the rack behind him. "Each has a Pokemon's name and type under it. Feel free to pick the one you want, but no pushing, or shoving, or... well.. just don't break anything. Once you have your Pokemon, feel free to let them out, but then sit back down."

As soon as she heard this, Alice jumped from her seat and ran up to the rack, examining all the Pokeballs. There were twelve in total, each very different Pokemon.

A tall, athletic young man came sprinting out the the path to Pallet Town, clearly late for something important. He got a quick layout of the town, discerning that the biggest building had to be the lab. He ran up to the door, gathered himself, and walked in. He said, "Sorry about that, I must have lost track of the time." as he walked up to the rack of pokeballs, silently praying that they had the pokemon he wanted.

Courteous as always, Emily had been the last to go inside, having let the younger ones have their fun and rush in ahead of her. She gave a polite nod to the Professor and took a seat.. just in time to have to stand right back up again, and cross the room to inspect the twelve balls. Being comparably rather tall, she managed quite easily to browse the monster-containing gadgets from behind the others, and came to realise that, no matter how appealing many of the others sounded, her eyes kept coming back to fall upon "#4: Charmander; Fire Type.", the second Pokéball on the rack.
Now Emily wasn't often accused of being the impulsive type, but she could tell that this feeling was one to be listened to. Leaning across, around or over whoever was standing in front of her, the girl announced "I'll have this one, I think." and carefully pulled the sphere from the groove that held it. She crossed back over to the seats then, and taking careful aim, opened the Pokéball to release Charmander onto one of them. Her face instantly lit up, and not just because of the firebrand on his tail, for she knew instantly she'd chosen well. "He's so... cute!" Emily exclaimed, grinning stupidly and petting the little lizard's head.

As Tristan silently walked up towards the rack of pokeballs, he could clearly see over all the other children, being much taller than the rest of them. He looked from side to side until his eyes came upon "#32 Nidoran." He quietly thought, "So which one was he...The word poison comes to mind...Evolution...Nedoking, and he is....Poison and Ground? Alright, this one's mine." He strained to reach over the children, grabbed his pokeball, and then went sit back down. He then released his Nidoran from its pokeball, scratching it behind the ears saying, "You and me little guy, we're gonna be somebody." After doings so, put it back in its pokeball, and sat down.

Kenji would dash forward an excitement, trying to get the water type he wanted before it would run out. He would grasp on a pokeball, looking at it as he would press the button in the middle, the Squirtle flying out of its pokeball and near his feet. "Yeah! Got it!" he'd say with a smirk, getting the pokemon he wanted before it would run out. He would then turn to the others, excited to start a battle.

Shane walked up to the rack and shifted his eyes to the tags giving each name of the different Pokémon, after looking around the rack, he finally saw something that caught his interest: "#147 Dratini". Dratini, being a rare dragon-type, was as good as Shane's, as he quickly snatched it up from the rack and open the Poké Ball by pressing the small, white button located in the middle of the sphere's surface. As the long, serpentine dragon came out of the ball, Shane was ecstatic, something he showed rarely. He put Dratini back into its Poké Ball, and he sat back down.

Alice picked up a pokeball that contained Gastly. Before even running back to her chair, she pressed the button on the Pokeball releasing Gastly in a beam of red light. She smiled when she saw it. "Oohhh.." she said, intrigued. Alice examined the Pokemon all around, then walked back to her seat, as the Gastly followed. She knew the professor had something to say but was too busy looking at her new Pokemon.

"Now that you have your Pokemon, you must know a few things..." Oak said, giving his standard speech that everyone knew from hearing hundreds of times from other people. It outlined the basics of Pokemon, what to do and not to do, and Alice had hardly paid any attention. "Any questions about ... well, anything?" Oak asked.

It was at that point that Emily raised her hand, asking a potentially stupid, but perhaps important, question. "Is it true we have to visit some crazy guy to re-nickname our Pokémon?"

...no, actually, she didn't do that. That would be silly and breaking the fourth wall. What she did do was sit quietly with Charmander atop her lap, the red 'mon's tail quite cautiously away from any clothing. She shook her head when the Professor asked if there were any questions - she knew what she needed to know by now, she wouldn't have dreamed of coming unprepared.

Tristan raised his hand as soon as Oak asked for any questions. He then began to look through his pockets and then took out a folded up picture and handed it to Professor Oak. The picture consisted of a tablet that had gigantic bird, surrounded by lightning etched onto it. Tristan revealed his true motives for becoming a trainer when he asked, "Does this Pokemon exist, and if so, what is it's name, and where can I find it."

Jean smiled at his seat. No one had picked a bird Pokemon yet, which meant there was still hope. Though, Jean soon started doubting himself on whether or not he wanted a bird type. He ignored the doubt, staying seated and waiting for everyone else to be done.

Gabriel decided to do something that would leave his fate to random. He closed his eyes as he ran his fingers across the row. He picked out the ball at his finger touched when he was at the end of that row. He took it, his eyes still closed. As he turned, he pressed the button and released the Pokemon inside. It was a strange Pokemon. "Interesting...?" He said, he studied the Pokemon, he had never heard anything about it before. Gabriel pressed the button again to return it, he sat on the chair and wondered. He caught a glimpse of the name, Abra. He looked toward Jean, "What type is Abra? I've never heard of it before."

Oak completely ignored all questions and went on with his story. "Anyway, so now that you're all well informed, you're on your way to becoming Pokemon masters! Before you exit, please take a bag from the corner, it contains 5 Pokeballs, and a Pokedex, to record data of what Pokemon you've seen."

Now that Shane had his Pokémon and such, he got up quickly, grabbed a black and blue bag from the corner, and was on his way. He looked at his new Poké Ball and Pokédex and tried to decide what to do now. There were over 150 species of Pokémon in the Kanto region alone, along with the Pokémon League Championship... "So many options..." Shane thought out loud.

Frowns as Oak ignored his question, put the picture back in his pocket, and went over to grab a black bag. He then scrolled through his Pokedex, only to become angry that the whole list was blank. He then leaned against the wall near the door.

Kenji would look at the items that he needed for his journey. He would grasp his Pokedex, trying to scan the Pokemon around him and get early entries. "Squirtle, the Water type pokemon." the pokedex would say out loud as he pointed it towards his own Squirtle. He'd than try to scan the others in the area, and stuff his Pokedex away. He'd than grab on the five pokeballs on place them on his belt, saying "Aww yeah, let's start this adventure!"

Gabriel got up from his chair, he looked to the bag the professor spoke of, and walked slowly toward it. He knew absolutely nothing about of his Pokemon. He shook this off as he picked up the black bag. He didn't bother to check what was inside, he simply took it and placed it on his back. As he stepped toward the door, he wondered about the Pokedex, taking it and the Pokeball in his hand, he summoned Abra and scanned him. "Abra; The Psychic type Pokemon" it said out loud in a synthetic voice. "Psychic type, eh?" Gabriel muttered quietly as he returned Abra, he then placed the Pokedex back and continued.

Tristan just stood quiet at the door, rolling the pokeball around in his hand, and placing the other five on a strap inside of his jacket. He was still thinking about the Pokemon he dreamed of even seeing, let alone catching, and how his new Nidoran would help him do so. He looked from person to person, realizing that he had come to too late to make any acquaintance with anyone. He then eyed a certain Gabriel, and then walked up too him awkwardly saying, "So you got a psychic type then?"

With brutal cunning, Emily quickly tried to scan the other kids' Pokémon as soon as she'd opened up the 'dex, but no luck, they were too far away or too partially out of sight, and getting any closer to do it would just be awkward. So instead, she just pointed the lens of the device at Charmander, who was now sitting on her shoulder; "Charmander, the fire-lizard Pokémon. It is said that the fire on the end of it's tail represents both it's life-force and emotional state."
She pocketed the pokédex after that, doing one of those appreciative "Hmm." noises as she did so. After that, Emily deposited the five empty pokéballs in her bag, and made an executive decision - "I'm gonna call him 'Chips'".

Alice pulled out her newly received Pokedex and quickly began running up to all the Pokemon in the room and scanning them, completely ignoring the fact that it could be seen as rude to nearly knock over all the little Pokemon in the process. At the end, she scanned her own Gastly, and read over its Pokedex data intently. "Awesome~" she said. She walked out of the lab and looked around at Pallet Town, then at the route she used to get here. She looked at it and read the map that was also conveniently located in her bag, that everyone else had gotten as well. She matched it up and read on the map...

The damage you do is equivalent to your attack minus their defense divided by two (if its a decimal, round it up.)

Ex. ATK of 10 vs DEF of 5 = 10 - 5/3 = 10 - 1.6 (rounded up) 10 - 2 = 8 DMG. The one with the highest speed goes first. You gain experience that is twice as much as the enemy's level. When you level up, you get 3 stat points to distribute as you please to Health, ATK, DEF, and SPD. All moves you have at the start do this damage, moves you earn at later levels will give you other advantages, but for now, it's simple.

Alice walked through the grass, and spotted a wild RATTATA (Lv.3). "Alright Gastly, go for it! Use Lick!"

Gastly licked the Rattata and left a gross smear on it of a strange green ectoplasm looking trail. It quickly faded away as Rattata used Tackle (I'm ignoring the fact that this normally wouldn't do anything just to avoid early complications).

"OK, one more time- use Lick!" Gastly repeated the move and with this Rattata fainted.

Alice looked behind her as the other trainers began walking into the grass as well.

((Okay, the first post was HUGE but it was just to explain things xD It should be easier as things go along.))

Kenji would smirk, placing his bag over his shoulder he would head out into the first route of his journey- route 1. He found it more convenient to walk with his pokemon, rather then place it in his pokeball. He also decided that his Squirtle would like to roam around, rather then be cooped inside a some ball. He would run into the wild, encountering a wild pidgey. He would take out his pokedex, quickly scanning it as the battle began.

"Alright Squirtle, use tackle!" Kenji would say, pointing at his pokemon to do the attack.

The Squirtle would ram into the bird-type Pokemon, causing decent damage towards it.

"Alright Squirtle, just hit it one more time!" Kenji would state, motivated that his Squirtle would win, he would tell it to Tackle. The Squirtle would dash at the pidgey, quickly smashing its body against the Pidgey, sending it flying as it was knocked out. "Yeah, we did it!" Kenji would say with a smirk, defeating his first pokemon.

Exp:6/10.

Shane walked onto Route 1, looking at all the tall grass around. He saw it rustle as wild Pokémon ran through the grass. After taking not 3 steps into said grass, a wild Pidgy jumped him. He figured music would come on the second he sent out his Dratini, but meh.

Dratini flung itself at the bird Pokémon and sent it flying back a foot or two.
