The Gift of Rebirth

Omnis looked towards the entrance the scientist-guy was pointing to and decided to enter it. The closer he got to the test, the more anxious and excited he got, and it was starting to show on his face, which was starting to look like someone about to die of nervousness mixed with someone about to explode from excitement. He looked around at all the noticeably taller teenagers, and suddenly felt extremely jealous and angry for some reason. Maybe his gift would be to grow taller... and he genuinely wished for that.

Ganku followed nybol into the building was suprised to see how eerie it was. It was too clean and shiny he dicided. Also there was something about the man in the lab coat that made him uncomfortable, the way he spoke... it was just to practised adn presise ganku thought to himself. There was something else to him too, but ganku couldn't put his finger on it. He sighed and decided to see what nybol thought of the man, so he turned to his friend and was about to ask him in french but decided the man might also know french so he used signlanguage to ask him what he thought.

Mattias waited for most of the children to go inside first before he even considered stepping into a government facility. "Okay, just go in, do this testing thing, get my gift, and leave. That's all I have to do. I'll just...try not to get angry with any scientists today." he thought to himself, walking in directly beside Ganku. Sensing that the boy was also uncomfortable, he grumbled, "No, I don't like this place either." He then took off his hoodie and his scarf, throwing both over his shoulder. He stared at the ceiling, exhaling deeply, trying to keep his nerves under control.

"Well.. Hey wait up!" Saori said. Saori noticed everyone going into another area that the scientist was pointing towards and decided to follow every other person. ".. This is strange."

The man stood as he watched everyone enter, taking out a small transparent rectangle he observed it for moments. He would raise the rectangle in the direction of each of the newcomers. Then he would simply look at it, he then pointed to Gabriel Asegawa. "You are first on the list, according to alphabetical order, follow me." Then he looked to the others, making a small sigh. "You shall go through that door, and I'll be there." He said, pointing to a door on the left which as though on cue, slid open revealing a room with many floating transparent rectangles that displayed incomprehensible symbols and numbers. The room had a great window of glass that observed a dome-like room, covered with silver tiles, then a strange pod like chair with a transparent cover.

Gabriel would step through the hall quietly, anticipating, nervous and excited. When he saw the room he couldn't believe the size, and then he noticed the observing room above. Gabriel would step forward as the man motioned for him to get into the pod. When Gabriel stepped in, he found himself in a comfortable, almost laying down position, the transparent cover would then automatically slide down on Gabriel as he awaited what came next. Gabriel suddenly felt tired and closed his eyes, he tried to fight it, but he couldn't, his head hitting the back of the pod, he shut his eyes and fell unconscious.

The man in the labcoat would then leave and head for the observing room above, when he was there he began poking certain parts of the floating transparent words and then dragging them up and down, left and right with his fingers. "Activate Genko testing mechanism." He would say slowly and clearly as he then looked down upon Gabriel waiting for a reaction, when nothing happened, he would then drag another floating rectangle and position it as his waist, motioning as though he was typing on it, he would say things quickly like "Thought Access Activated," or "Beginning memory drill," then he would put the rectangle back and stare, waiting at the pod.

The whole idea of this place was a bit eerie to Rose but she nodded her head to reassure herself, knowing this was what she had to do so she may as well get it over with without struggle. Hopefully there would be no issue. Worst comes to worst, she thought, she'd learn she had powers and would be used as a weapon for war for the country... which is bad. There could be hundreds of other bad situations but she decided it wasn't even worth thinking about so she shrugged it off and stepped into the room along with the others, looking around at the faces of the people there, their expressions all frightfully similar.

((This part is going to be a bit different, since I don't think I can think of jdkgjfkd different ways to realize your power, you're going to have to get as creative as possible, the only thing that you have to include in your RP during the test is basically any memories or anything about your character's background that might trigger something, or them going to deep in your mind and unlocking it, how you want to display it is your choice, but if you make it an intense thing, know that it won't always be like that, and then-on be a weak ability, since it's just discovered.))

Gabriel awoke in a hall, a long hall shrouded with curtains over the walls and a tiled floor. Gabriel would continue to move forward, as though something was calling him, but with each step he took, he could feel something as though it were moving around like a worm in his brain, searching for the core, and every time he stopped moving, he could feel a heat wave out of nowhere, so he had no choice but to keep going.

As the man would take another rectangle and begin pressing on it, he spoke softly and quietly "Forty percent, fifty percent, seventy percent..." He mumbled to himself as he checked another rectangle's readings.

Gabriel saw images of himself from the past, from ages four through seven. Gabriel fell to his knees, a fire burning in his head as he stopped moving, he would try to continue on and failing, falling down and looking toward the end of the hall shrouded in darkness. He reached forward in desperation, it was an unbearable feeling, moving forward about an inch, he felt his pointing finger touch a wall, and everything went black. The transparent cover of the pod began to heat up, with the rest of the pod, as and the readings on the rectangle began to change rapidly. In moments the entire pod was on fire and the cover exploded into pieces of what resembled glass. Gabriel would step forward, barely conscious.

"...one hundred percent..." the man would say as he pressed on a button and spoke. "Gabriel Asegawa, you shall be informed if you passed or fail soon, take a rest in the lobby, there should be a bed there." And with that the man would turn to Mattias. "Mattias Cocoon, your turn, proceed downstairs, a new pod shall be created." And with that the man turned back to press another rectangle floating in the air, and the the cover of the pod, including the heated pod itself would vanish and a new one would be in its place. "Go on," he said, looking back at Mattias.

Mattias then jumped up, and motioned towards the room with the "pod." He walked past the door,and then threw down his scarf and his hoodie next to the pod he would soon enter. "Let's just hope it's something useful." he thought to himself, laying down inside the pod like structure. He then crossed his arms, fairly comfortable, and closing his eyes as the transparent cover came over the pod. The next time he opened his eyes, he was laying on the floor inside a gigantic empty white room. He got up to his feet, and after a few seconds several shades appeared in the room around him. He cocked his head to the side, slightly confused, when one of them took out a pistol and shot him in the knee. The pain shot up through his leg, and he then collapsed to the ground. He was then shot 8 times across his entire body. He felt like he was about to die, but suddenly, the shots weren't hitting him anymore. He looked up, barely able to move his neck, and saw one of the shades taking aim, he closed his eyes and gritted his teeth, thinking it could be the end, but when the gunshot fired, it never hit him, he opened his eyes again to see the figure firing at him, frustrated. He then let his eyes focus, only to see that he was surrounded by what looked like an ultra thin dome of glass, keeping him safe from the gun wielding shades, so eager to kill him. He then lay his head back down on the floor, and he closed his eyes. He then woke up, his whole body ached, and he was in a cold sweat. He managed to get up, and stumble out of the pod, and then out of the room, before the doctor could say anything. He then fell down onto one of the beds, trying to figure out what the hell had just happened.

The Scientist would look down, pressing the same button and changing the pod. He was at least satisfied that no one had been physically hurt. When he finished writing the results down he turned to Saori. "You are next," he would say in his bland tone. Then he would turn back and continuing writing on the desk with his finger.

Gabriel's head ache horribly, he had found the bed and had been laying in it for what seemed like eternity, he tried to get some actual rest but he couldn't, tossing and turning, his headache seemed to die down, when he felt it was better, he began to step toward the observing room to at least be around some other people, but he felt that it was a pain in every step, What the hell was that... he would think as he stepped toward the door which automatically opened.

Mattias rolled off the side of the bed, hitting the ground with a thud. Extreme pain shot up through his entire being, it felt like he had just gotten dragged through hell, about 10 times. He attempted to gather himself, and stumbled back over to his chair. He sat down, his whole body throbbing with pain. He stared at the ceiling, dazed and confused. So many thoughts ran through his head, thoughts like, "What did it mean? Why didn't I die? What was that glass? Why was it there? Who were the shades?" The more he delved into all of these questions, the more his head hurt, so he just put faith in that they may be answered sometime in the future. For now, he just sat there, his head in his hands.

(Since Eiji's not responding, I'll just skip ahead to Pen, completely screwing the order ... so Omit the previous posts about Eiji going?) The man would be slow in typing as he went over in his mind about how the tests went, closing his eyes for a moment then reopening them to see the next person on the list, he would point to Nybol and motion for him to go downstairs.

Rose walked into the pod silently, and sat and closed her eyes and sighed. She had no idea what this was supposed to be or do and it was a bit nerve wracking but she made it a point to herself to not display any uncomfortable emotions. When she opened her eyes she noticed a man in a lab coat in front of her who had probably walked in front of her as her eyes were closed. She couldn't hear much while inside the pod. She looked at him and suddenly her head began to hurt a bit. The pain dulled and suddenly she heard him speaking, but his lips weren't moving, nor could she actually hear him from inside the pod.

She realized the voice was inside her head, and it was the man's voice, muttering numbers and formulas amongst a few malicious ideas that passed by. As she realized what was going on, a burst of energy seemed to form inside her mind. She became frozen still and her eyes stared off blankly, as thoughts flew through her head. She saw what seemed to be similar to a movie play out in her head. It was her running through the snows of Zarboniko with a small group of people around her. nd It seemed the group was trying to chase someone, and Rose was just about caught up to the target they were trying to catch, and she put her hand on their shoulder and violently shoved them down onto the ground. As they flipped over and were ready to bounce up to their feet, she glanced at their face but before she could identify it the pod opened up and her whole train of thought had stopped and she was left feeling lightheaded.

She stayed quiet and walked down into the hall with the beds and sat on the end of one. Her eyelids began to get heavy so she laid down and closed her eyes, instantly falling into a state of deep sleep.

As Ganku entered the pod he was trying to figure out what was gonna happend, the ones that went before him hadn't come back, so they must of gone to a diferent room he figured. All of the sudden he wasn't in the pod anymore, but in the wilderness a few killometers from his home. Ganku wasnt sure if he should be disapointed that this was the best his mind could do. Ganku started walking down the path that lead deeper into the woods since he figured he needs to be doing something in here. As he walked he noticed that his suroundings looked familiar, more then just normally it would of been since he pratically grew up here. Ganku stoped abruptly and gazed forward at the all too familiar sight of a large broken tree that was lying on a crumpled body and the small child trying desperetly to lift it. He would never forget this day, he would never forget the expresion on his mothers pale lifeless face as he had tried desperetly to lift the tree off of her. The impact itself had killed her, but he didnt know that back then, he still thought he could save her. Ganku crouched next to the 12 year old whose hands were bleeding and was shouting for someone to help him lift. Ganku started lifting, sudenly he was back to being that 12 year old, futily trying to lift somthing that would requiere several full grown addults to lift. It didn't matter, he pushed and lifted and tried as hard as he could just as he had done those years before but this time it was diferent. As he lifted with his knees the tree nudged forward, then a little more and after his third attempt it lifted straight off and landed a foot away from his mother. This hadn't actaully happend, he remembered pushing for hours on end untill finally his father had found him, bloddy and exausted pushing futily at the fallen tree. Yet now he was looking down at the now treeless corpse of his mother and he wondered if it even made a diference if he had succeded or not.

He was now back to being his present day self standing alone in the forest. He turned around and out of frustration he punched the closest tree he could reach, eccept instead of hitting wood he felt the distinctive feeling of flesh hitting metal. He had struck the lid of his pod and noticed a clear fist sized dent in the lid where he had struck it. As he climbed out he wondered what type of cheap metal they had used to make such a pod since it was so easily dented. He slowly made his way to the room with the beds and instead of taking a bed, he just sat down in the corner of the room and became quiet.

-Omnis looked at the scientist guy and then the pod with a confidence, and he approached said pod without a second thought. He entered it as it opened and closed his eyes as it closed, then time felt like it stopped. It felt as if he were just speeding down a roller coaster just as it reached the peak, but he wasn't moving. He then opened his eyes to find himself in a town, and he looked down at himself, and he realized that the colour of his clothes were inverted, being white instead of the usual black. The town was covered in snow, which was falling slowly from the dark, cloudy sky. He saw two children running through the snow, and one was holding an expensive looking vase while the other was holding a lot of money in his hands... they both seemed really familiar. Their features aren't really clear, even though they're only a few feet away. You couldn't even see the colour of their skins, they were just silhouettes with mouths and clothes, and that's when it hit Omnis...

-The kid leading turned around and laughed, "Man, that guard was so clueless!" he gave a mischievous chuckle, "I was able to distract him easily, huh Ray?" Ray?... The boy following laughed, "Please, you were the mastermind behind this, Omnis." The second he said that, their features were suddenly recognizable. It was Omnis years ago. He was being followed by his best friend, Ratum, who was Omnis' "partner in crime" when they were children. Omnis had to be about 8 years old from what the older Omnis could see. Ray let out a snicker, "Omnis, you did great with that guard, you distracted him and took money from the register at the same time, it was great~ I got to say, You really know how to get into people's heads, you can make them believe whatever you want!" The second Ratum said those words, the world stopped. The snow stopped falling. The wind even felt like it stopped moving. Then, everything started melting.

-Everything except the bodies of Omnis, and the two children started "melting," or so it seemed. Omnis' senses started going haywire. Every sound, taste, sight, and smell he has ever experienced flowed through his mind, and he felt it all at once, which was very disorienting. At the same time, he felt like he was being compressed by an one thousand pound weight. The figures of Young Omnis and Ray were staring at the real Omnis with the same mischievous looks on their faces. Ray disappeared and the child Omnis started to resemble the present Omnis more and more, though, he was wearing completely black clothes and had pure black hair, instead of Omnis' usual white. He stuck out his hand and pointed at Omnis, and though Omnis was in excruciating pain, he was able to reach out and touch the other Omnis' finger...

-Everything went dark...

-Omnis woke up with a start and hit his head on the pod which was still closed. He rubbed his head and lied down again, trying to comprehend what he just experienced.

The scientist was once again frustrated, as he then would put away the pod, he would then walk in the direction of the room with the beds, the door closing behind him he would put on a false smile, trying to look as though he wasn't tired. Then he looked around at everyone, looking at a few very carefully before speaking. "So how were your experiences during the tests? Tell me what you felt and saw?" Then he would look at everyone, carefully awaiting an answer.

The man would walk up slowly, black pants and a jet black jacket with gold stripes, he would put down his hood and let his piano-black hair drape over the sides of his head again, the emerald-eyed grunt of the rebellion would look up in disgust upon the great tower, he knew his orders, he knew them well. "Can't believe we're recruiting kids..." he would think as he stepped up the steps and opened a bag he had carried on his back containing a small round, silver object the size of what was in the old days called a tennis ball. He would begin pressing on it in different sides, and the ball would react with pillar like spikes pushing in and out of the ball. He smiled as he saw the machine was working and began setting it up.

Gabriel would turn around as he heard the man's words, he would rub his head as the headache was finally beginning to fade. "I don't quite remember much..." he said as he took a seat on one of the beds. His eyes would move from person to person, quickly glancing at each of them, not examining, but just checking their expressions, Gabriel would stick his hands into his pockets as he put his head up and awaited the others' answers to the question.

Omnis stretched and yawned, responding to Gabe's comment, "Even though it wasn't that long ago, I can hardly remember what happened... It's all blurry..." The harder he tried to remember his experience in the pod, the more his head hurt, so he took a stick of gum to calm his nerves. This time, the gum changed flavor with mood, but the flavor was incredibly inconsistent, even though Omnis felt at ease.

Ganku who was still sitting in the corner could still remember quite clearly what had happened. He was exausted, not physically but mentally. He didnt have the energy nor did he really want to explain in detail what he saw, so he just said "C'était juste un vieux souvenir . quelque chose de mon passé" then he lowered his head again and continued to ponder what he had gone through.

Nybol opened his eyes slowly, his vision coming back to him. He looked at the man who had asked him what he felt and sighed. He typed in quickly, "Her name was Kayla Nightshade. I do not know her. Her father died while working in the mines, her mother is never home due to working, food is scarce, she weighs twenty pounds less than a five year old should, she was diagnosed with heart cancer when she was born, her favorite color is gray, her favorite animal is the owl, she likes pasta, pizza and olives, her favorite video game is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Light, she has a black teddy bear that she always keeps on the left side of her bed, she used to have a dog; a terrier, but he ran away because he was never fed, she will eventually die of cancer at a fairly young age, she only has one true friend; a boy named Jean Lyren, she likes to sing and perform in plays, but her true ambition is to become a doctor so that she may save other fathers, because she could never save her own." He took a deep breathe, his face pale and eyes tired. "There was a monster that was once human... it..." He stopped typing, noticing he 'said' enough.
