The Gift of Rebirth

The official “Gift Test” building stood out among the others, being the only building with tinted windows… and being on a snowy hill. The entire design followed a black and green colour combination. At the front there was an arch of steel decorated with lightning-like markings. After that there was the grand double door of glass leading into the lobby area for the test. Around the hill was decorated with many different flowers native to places like Genkamaia and Gaia with some recent technology, they were able to survive there despite the weather conditions. This would be the place where the life of whoever enters forever changes.


Gabriel looked upon the huge building, there was nothing like it in Domi, turning back to the great lime stone staircase cutting through the hill, it began to sink in that Domi was so much more different than the rest of the world. Shaking his head he would drag himself up to the arch, and passing through he heard a mechanical click and suddenly a ray was over him. “Gabriel Asegawa,” it said clearly as the neon blue ray disappeared, leaving a sort of creeping feeling over Gabriel’s skin. “Yep, nothing like Domi…” Gabriel muttered to himself as he moved on forward to the door, being tired from the trip, he decided to stay outside and rest a bit before moving, falling back down on the white blanket of snow that lay under him. Resting his eyes a bit as he yawned, and when he reopened his eyes, he saw that the sun was beginning to rise. It was so very early, he wondered if he should’ve gone a bit later than he did, but he knew that deep inside, he really wanted to get here as fast as possible. His mind continued to wander and then he felt thirsty, pulling out a bottled water he had bought before getting off the train, he drank the water down, he was happy he didn’t have to savor each drop for once. His eyes then moved to the building, still on his decision to wait, he pulled the jacket off from his waist and wore it so he didn’t freeze to death.

Omnis walked up to the building, thinking that he'd be able to get this over with quickly. As he looked around and saw the children around him, he wondered how the test would be administered. He decided that he'd have to find out eventually, and wrapped his black scarf tighter, feeling a bit colder for some reason. He was used to the snowy climate in Zarboniko, but he guessed the tension was just getting to him. He looked around a bit more, and saw some loose belongings hanging out of some teenager's pockets, but he thought he'd get to it later, he wanted to walk up those stairs and figure out what would happen.

Ganku sat in in his car staring at the towering building with pure awe. Ganku had arrived at the test building after a long road trip in his 1969 Dodge Charger that had been modified so it can hover over water. It was a relic, but ganku always thought newer cars left something to be desired when it came to style. Ganku climbed out of the car and said to his companion riding shotgun "Nous sommes arrivés, Dieu que ce bâtiment est énorme." Ganku walked towards the building and continued to stare at it, it was by far the largest building ganku had ever seen. Of course that wasnt saying much, ganku has never been to big citys so anything over two stories is massive to him. As he got closer he noticed another kid sitting at the foot of the building, ganku nodded towards him and started climbing up the hill. As he passed through the archway a mechanical voice said "Ganku Hazake", Ganku jumped back in suprise and muttered a curse under his breath. He continued up the stair and reached the giant doors. He wondered if he was suposed to wait or if he was just suposed to go in, so he compromised and knocked on the doors.

Mattias silently marched up the snow covered hill to the testing facility, a black scarf wrapped across his face, his bright blue eyes seeming to pop from the rest of his dark, angry face. He walked up to the door, and was scanned, the anger in his eyes seeming to grow when the machine said the words, "Mattias Cocoon." He would much rather be dead in the desert world that was Dimo instead of shivering in front of the doors of a lab, and in the bottom of his heart, all he really wanted was for the Genko regime to burst into violent flames of anarchy. He sat next to a certain Gabriel Asegawa, being able to sense that the young man has spent a lot of time in the desert, but being a complete and total loner, just sat there, as if he didn't know he existed. He looked from person to person, and then at the sun, and he thought out loud in a deeper voice than that of a regular 15 year old, "It must be about six in the morning..." directed at anyone who would take enough interest to respond.

Omnis decided to follow the others, after standing there for the sake of seeing who he should steal from as people passed... but it would have to wait... He stood outside the door with all the others, a mischevious grin on his face as he looked at all the other teenagers he could possibly pickpocket from... needless to say, he looked somewhat suspicious... well, as suspicious as a short 14 year old could.

"No one's going to answer." Gabe told the one knocking on the door. "We probably still have a half-hour." He began to stand and look at everyone. "I'm Gabriel, I've lived in Domi since..." He thought to himself. "...well, forever." He would begin zipping the jacket up a bit more. "So where you guys from?" He asked with a slight smile on his face. Gabriel would look around as he wondered to himself how the world could be so different in different parts. Domi could get cold sometimes, but not like this. He simply shrugged to himself as he awaited their answers.

Looked up from the spot he was sitting at, and lazily relpied, "Domi. I hate this damn snow, I'd rather be shivering in the sand then here." He smiled slightly, not at the fact that he had found someone also from Domi, but that he was going to enter the facility in roughly 30 minutes. He was ready to scare some sense into the hapless followers of Genko, even if it be an insane idea.

Ganku stoped knocking and gave Gabe a quizical look since he ahd no idea what gabe said. As he turned around he saw all the other kids sitting around and guessed that the building wasnt open yet. He sat down next to his mute companion and wondered how long he would ahve to wait outside. Ganku noticed that the kid who spoke to him was now talking to the group. Then another kid started speaking, so ganku turned his attention to the one who responded and wondered what they were talking about. He managed to pick out the word "Domi" wich he knew was the land to the south, but he was curious to what else tehy were talking about so he nudged Nybol and asked "Tu peux traduires pour moi?"

Omnis, noticing the french-speaking male, quickly stated, "En voyant comme vous parlez le français, je suppose que vous êtes de Gaia ... me corrigent si je me trompe." As he finished speaking, he started saying, "I'm from Zarboniko, and trust me, you get pretty used to the weather." He spoke the same way a conman would... though younger. "I have to wonder what'll be going on when we enter those doors..." and then he repeated what he just said in french for the Gaian gentleman.

Rose was in the distance, several meters away from the main group, watching from a distance. She watched the French man and the bilingual boy converse and she smiled, knowing that her studies had paid off as she was able to flawlessly translate it in her mind. Still, this didn't matter much aside from knowing simple bits of information- for now, anyway. She watched from afar faintly being able to make out their voices and watching their movements. She had a feeling that these people would be ones she would encounter in the future so it'd be a good idea to observe them.

Mattias takes a small black sphere, pushes part of it down, and places it in his ear. He then took out a small black square, and placed it underneath his tongue. He then spoke out in both French and English at the exact same time, depending on the person, and said, "Seems like someone just wants to be socially awkward..." Having extremely sharp eyes due to living in the desert wilderness, he noticed the feminine figure out in the distance. He then began to stand up, and stare directly back at her, not waving, not calling out to her, just simply...watching... He also made it extremely easy for her to notice him watching her.

Omnis looked at the guy using an auto-translator, "You know..." He started, "Those auto-translators kinda make it so those actually speaking the language wasted their time..." He looked at Mattias with a look of disapproval. "Honestly..." He took out what looked like a stick of gum... and wouldn't you know it, it WAS gum~ Gum that changed its flavor to taste like what your taste buds wanted at the moment. While chewing, he said, "How long do we have to wait, exactly?..."

Ganku nodded towards omnis and said "Oui, vous avez raison, je suis de Gaia et im heureux de voir que quelqu'un d'autre parle ici en français." Then turning towads the one with the translator and thought to himself that people shouldnt speak a language if they havent put the time and effort into learning it, plus he thought the translator slured the words too much. He thought about saying as much but decided against it since teh petty argument that might ocure wasnt worth it. Ganku wondered if coming here was even worth it, pass or fail he plannend to just go back to the wilderness were he grew up and continue to hunt and live off the lan with his family, simple and quiet, the way he liked it. He looked back towars his mute friend and thought that this test was probobly much more important for him then it was for ganku. He decided that if there was anything he could do, he would to help his friend pass. Then ganku noticed the girl standing off in the distance and says to no himself "Je me demande qui elle est"

"It's not that I LIKE using a translator, but I'd much rather slaughter the languages words than not be understood." said Mattias, still watching Rose from a distance, his scarf flapping in the wind. "I'm sorry I didn't have the time to learn a second language, we have no use for French in Dimo. That and I just picked this up from my friend, Mr. Jason. But he's not important, that girl over there's got me deathly curious though." Mattias put his hands in his pockets, and stared at her, his eyes glued on her location.

That girl did look like the "observing-type," so to speak, as she was just staring at us from the distance, "I have to just assume she's another person taking the test... Whatever it may be..." He continued chewing on his gum, which (due to its special adaptive flavoring) was tasting kind of like a snow cone. "She's probably just shy or something..." Feeling like he should, he repeated his previous sentences in French. "I don't know why... but I feel like these people will become either assets or obstacles in the near future... He thought to himself, losing his sly look for just a few seconds, but he put that mask on not long after.

"Qui sait ? si elle m'aide dans ma vie à la maison , puis une grande , sinon , eh bien" Ganku said to his companion without really thinking about it. As he pondered the question more, then he thought of a pratical gift that could help him and he smiled as he spoke to his friend "Peut-être que je pouvais parler aux animaux , qui seraient utiles . Caribou , renoncer et entrer dans ma soupe!" as he finished he remembered that he was hungry and cursed his own stupid sense of humour. Then he remembered the second part of his friends question and replied "Vous passerez, vous ne manquent jamais de tests" Ganku then remembered that not everyone spoke french and he decided to try his english so he mumbled "You.. good test".

Gabriel would only listen to their conversation, not putting in any effort to converse with them. He only stood and listened as their suspicions about the girl grew and their conversation. Then again, it would be good to say something before I start looking suspicious myself... he thought to himself. "Well-" The moment he began to speak he was cut off by the sliding of the double-doors. He turned to see that the place was open, and in the place there was a man about the height of an average adult, he had odd spiking gray hair and dull, almost colourless blue eyes. Wearing his lab coat proudly he would take a breath before speaking. "Hello, welcome to the Genko testing corporation." He said it as though it had almost been rehearsed. He then looked around at the group, glancing at each one. "Is this everyone?" he would ask in his monotone voice.

Rose watched the group still and glanced back at the boy staring at her for only a second, she had a feeling he wouldn't be very much trouble. She didn't even know if she'd ever see these people again but for the time being they were all inside the testing area and she may or may not need to know them. Looking at the man wearing the labcoat, she slowly approached the group, zipping up her black hoodie and pulling the hood over her dark hair as she walked along. She shoved her hands in the jacket's pocket and walked towards the back of the group, silently watching still taking note of the many people and trying to figure out their names.

Omnis went ahead and entered the laboratory with the others. He looked at the man wearing the lab coat, who looked pretty... dull... He looked around and decided to answer the man's question, "I guess that is everyone... maybe..." He then looked at the man, "So how is this going to work... er... 'Doc,'" he started, "How will this test go?"

The man in the lab coat finished observing everyone and he motioned for the entrance. "Go in, here we shall first sign you in using our new technology." He would then move out of the way, going further into the lobby to show it's size, it was basically a dome shaped room with a large crescent shaped table that held the usual office supplies that Genko's company would usually make for office purposes. The man in the lab coat would await for everyone to enter before stating who he was.

Gabriel would walk forward into the lobby, knowing that today would change his life, he took a breath before entering, astounded by the lobby, seeing that there were no seats, Gabriel assumed this was not the testing room, slightly disappointed, he turned to the man in the labcoat and awaited an introduction-- and explanation. Realizing that the building was a bit warmer than the outside, Gabriel took off his jacket, putting it around his waist. He would then return his attention to the man in the coat.

"Ugh.. Where am I?" Saori opens his eyes as he holds his head together. (Sorry, I'm a bit late. I have no clue as to where I am XD) "Great.. What to do now." Saori gets up realizing he had a long coat around him. "It's freezing.." Shakes his head as he sees the entrance of peculiar place and walks several steps before entering the building. "I must have passed out.. Maybe someone in there can let me know where I am." Saori said as he walked in.

Saori looks around to see the gathered bunch of people here. He raises his right hand slightly and speaks, "Uh.. Hi there." Saori seemed timid and clueless as to where he is. "I'm Saori!" He suddenly yelled, "I uh.. Embarrassing as this may seem have no idea where I am. If one of you guys can let me know.. I'd really appreciate it." Still has his hand raised.
