"How'd it go?" Chrisy asked through the cellular phoneline.

Ilyore grunted, tying a bandage over his wounds from his encounter with Ganku. Roxie stared with her usual smile.

"Badly?"

"Pretty sure I killed one of them," Ilyore replied. "Didn't kill Ganku ... was that you?"

"It was Leok, Ilyore," she answered.

"I see," he said. He scanned the one-room building, staring at the various shelves holding up jars of different colored liquids. The smell of mint was strong. "I'm at a medicinal storage. Getting myself fi-"

"You got hurt?"

"It was nothing," Ilyore snapped. "I was just bruised up pretty badly, that's all. No witnesses at all - god will be pleased."

Chrisy laughed, "So how's your wife? You check up with her yet?"

Ilyore's eyes narrowed. Something in his mind told him something was happening. The Chrisy he knew never changed the subject this quickly, or this willingly. He hesitated to ask, leaving Chrisy to wait for an answer.

"No, I haven't," Ilyore muttered with his jaws clenched.

"Oh dear, something happen?" Roxie asked.

"You're out, and so is your wife," she giggled playfully. "She's dead, and so will you ... in about ... now."

Ilyore dropped the cellular phone in hysteria.

Zarkus, Sarah, Kaibura, and James were huddled up together beside a small fire. Smoke rose into the air. It was still nightfall, so it was still cold. A stream ran behind the huddled group. The fire shone against all of their bare faces. They had made it to the middle of the forest. Several squirrels were around the stream getting water or finding any dead fish. Pine trees stood towering over the fire, but none of the embers could make them catch on fire. The leaves for the trees were far too high up in the star-covered blackness of the heavens.

James and Kaibura stared at eachother, expecting one of them to do something to get Zarkus and Sarah away from them so they could make a break for it. But Zarkus caught their eyes and grimaced.

"Don't think of anything stupid," Zarkus said in a loud tone. "I'll blow your faces away. I'd start with the British guy."

Kaibura jumped, staring back at the fire.

"So," Sarah said softly. "I guess this means..."

"Yeah," Zarkus replied. "I'm the new leader of the CHS."

"No, that's not what I'm trying to say," Sarah muttered. "Ganku's dead..."

"Uh-huh - I'm sure he's still around, Sarah."

James looked over at Zarkus and asked, "How can you be so sure?"

Zarkus chuckled, lighting a cigarette with one of the fire's embers and started smoking. After around fourty seconds, James gave up on getting an answer. He had given up until Sarah had finally responded.

"Ganku is the top shootist in the CHS," Sarah said in her usual soft tone, which almost seemed like a hiss. "The top shootist in the Criminal Hunting Society. An ordinary gunner can't take him down so easily. But ... even he isn't the best out of the whole world." She gazed into the fire, deep in thought.

Kaibura could see that Sarah seemed sad, but he decided not to say anything about her. Instead, he turned to look over at Zarkus, who seemed to be enjoying his half-finished cigarette.

"Tell me," he said. Zarkus looked back at Kaibura with an unintentional look on his face. "Why exactly are we suspects? We aren't connected to the Kira Investigation, and even if we were, you know the location, so why bring us along?"

Zarkus blew smoke into Kaibura's face and smiled.

What a disrespectful man, Kaibura thought.

"Mere irony," Zarkus happily. "You two seem smart, but you were at the place where Kira once was. Tell me, how long have you lived in that house, british boy?"

"British boy? I'll have you know that I -"

"A few years?" Zarkus interrupted.

"Don't interup-"

"Yes," James answered for Kaibura. He did not want to die because of Kaibura's slip-up.
Zarkus exhaled cigarette smoke into the air and went down to the running stream to wash his dry hands. Sarah stared into the embers of the fire in deep thought, while James looked up at the many stars above. Kaibura thought to himself in silence, wondering how he and James could get the chance to escape.

The fire spread higher into the air, forcing the group to huddle a few feet more away from the fire. A full, blue moon was slowly dipping into the horizen, and an orange ray came from the opposite end of the moon.

It was a sunrise.

A day had past since the plans had been given out to Leok. All seemed well to Lelouch Lamparouge, who sat on an orange sofa in the fairly large room. He lay his head upon the armrest, gazing up at the pink ceiling covered with paintings of clouds and saints. Bookcases were at all sides, and there was a trapdoor under the large carpet leading into the machinery room where he worked.

Death Note: Online - Episode 4 - Left Behind Empty Re: Death Note: Online - Episode 4 - Left Behind

(continued)
A lantern was placed on each bookshelf. A flame-lit chandelier could be seen in the middle of the ceiling swaying slightly. These two types of objects were the only sources of light or energy in the room. The room smelled like burning rubber. On a willow-made table in front of the sofa was a stack of paper with arial font typing. The papers looked extremely important.

Lelouch was a man who looked like fatigue itself. Noticeable eye bags could be seen under his half-closed eyes. His skin was pale as snow, and he was a lean fellow. Lelouch's pale-blue eyes seemed to glow in the dim lighting of the library-like room. He wore a worn out tuxedo and had a loosened tie around his neck. He wore a dreary look on his face.

In his right hand was a golden cross embedded with rubies. He held it tightly, praying quietly to himself. He begged for forgiveness and blessing from God, and hoped only for the best of what he is sacrificing. After several minutes of praying, he put the cross aside and looked at the papers and read them to himself. The papers were documents on detectives that were deceased. On the top of the first page was the letter "W". The page read:

John W. Ari December 14th, 1970 - March 27th, 2008

Cause of Death: Corrupted Police Officers

Reason of Corrupted Police Officers: The Notebook

Head of Corrupted Police Officers: Narukoll Ter Aki (Living)

Weapons used: Policeman Firearms

Location: Japan, Asia

Notes on John W. Ari: He was a worthy opponent who I got rid of with ease. L was not much of a problem, but John was something else. He had the same amount of intelligence that I have, but he was not so knowledgeable of what powers of Kira. Rather too bad, I was having fun.[/center]

Lelouch closed his eyes after reading the page for the fiftieth time that evening. Memories flooded his head, remembering the mistakes and victories he had performed over the past few years. He had become a successful murderer, but for what? The lives of other people? To make things better for the world around the citizens?

What he was after was nothing more than conquest; to make the world his own. To become God himself, to pass judgement on those who did not deserve life. People already worshipped and supported Lelouch's ideals, but what would stop people from turning on him after the years of leading humanity in his so-called "righteous" way?

Lelouch got up and walked to the eastern wall of the library-like room and found a telephone attached to the wall. He pulled the banana-like phone out, the cord extending towards him as he pulled. On the phone were numbers, which he dialed upon in a certain order. He put the receiver to his ear and waited for an answer.

After several seconds of waiting, hearing the drone-like tone in the backround, the caller answered.

"What?" A woman's voice hissed.

"Leok," Lelouch droned. "Proceed with the plan. We can't waste anymore time - we have two days to complete this transfer. Is Ilyore ready?"

Leok giggled. "I'm not stupid - I'm way ahead of you, L."

Lelouch hung up and, for the first time in several hours, made a sly smile.

********************************************

Kaibura jumped behind several bushes belonging to the property of the Ying-Yang Restaurant. James dove under one of the restaurant's kicked over tables. It was a gunfight. Looking through the glass-surface of the table he was behind, James could see blood. He could not see Kaibura. The terrible gunshots rang through James' ears. There was nothing he could do.

Sarah had gone berserk. Only five minutes before this incident had begun, she had reached for her deagle and had shot at various police officers armed with .40 caliber pistols, killing them with single shots to the head. Sarah had done this so quickly that the first officer she shot at had no chance of taking their own weapon out.

When the first officer fell, Sarah had sprinted towards the dying body to take their pistol. Zarkus stared in shock and did not react. Kaibura shouted at Sarah, saying that what she had done was no way of treating someone with the law. James merely backed away.

"S-Sarah ... what are you..." Was all that Zarkus could mumble.

Kaibura peeked through one of the holes in the rhododendron bushes and could see everything, including the blood. He could see Sarah firing at two more police officers coming to the scene, however, this time Sarah was shot; in her lower left leg.

She fell to the ground, still aiming at one of the two officer's chests. Sarah hesitated, but, with an emotionless face, she pulled the trigger, causing the officer to fall backwards into the ground. Sarah did not even look like she was in pain. The other officer fired another round, this time in the middle of her chest, which forced her backwards into the pavement of the sidewalk.

The .40 caliber pistol in Sarah's hand flew into the air and landed in behind the bushes where Kaibura sat to hide. When he realized what had landed in front of him, he jumped, staring down at the .40 caliber pistol.

Kaibura began to wonder what he should do to help in this situation. Was it a wise decision to fire the rounds at the officers to keep them off of Sarah? Or was it an even wiser decision to fire rounds at Sarah, who still carried a deagle, (or a Desert Eagle). Was it going to help the situation?

James got up from behind the table, looked around for Zarkus, and urged Zarkus to stop this. He was still in shock.

"Hey bald guy! Get behind here, now!" James exclaimed.

Zarkus snapped back into reality and glared at James for a second. He reached into his holster for his gun. Was he going to shoot at Sarah?

BOOM!

The sound of a gun could be heard from behind the bushes, as Sarah fell to the ground with blood dripping from the side of her head. Her head turned the left when she hit the back of her head on to the pavement of the sidewalk. Sarah was either dead or dying, for she was not moving at all. She remained stationary.

Kaibura stood from behind the bushes with his upper body now visible, holding the pistol in his hands, aiming at the fallen Sarah. His hands began shaking as he began to breathe more heavily. The pistol fell from out of his hands. Looking at Sarah, someone who was once a live, was now dead because of him. Him.

By the time Kaibura had come back to his senses, a group of police officers approached him and Zarkus, who had walked up to Kaibura to do something he did not get a chance to do. James kept his distance away from the scene, slowly backing away. He knew what was going to happen.

The group of police officers put handcuffs on to Kaibura and Zarkus' wrists.

"You two are under arrest," one of them said. "For use of a firearm and assault."

"Hey, hold on now," Kaibura snapped. "It was self defense! It's part of my rights! I can do these things!"

Kaibura turned to look at James, hoping for him to get him out of this. But James had already left the scene to who-knows-where. Kaibura put his head to his chest and went into silence. He could not believe this was happening to him, of all people. This was happening way to quickly for him to process through his mind.

"Fine," Zarkus said with a broad smile. "So be it."
And with that, the police officers led the two into two seperate police convertibles.
Kaibura looked at Zarkus from the other car, wondering if he was born crazy or had a broken mind.
********************************************

James shut the door behind him, gasping for breath. He had run through a quarter of Saskatoon in less than two hours. He sighed, trying to forget about what he had done to Kaibura. But he would not let himself get into matters like killing, which Kaibura had done.

Sweat ran down his face while he walked into the middle of the room.

James looked around his secret club house, his fortress of solitude, still breathing heavily. This fort was a fort he had made over a decade ago with several of his friends. It had taken half a year, but when they got enough wood, they had searched for good location for this "fortress of solid" of theirs. It was the perfect place for such an establishment.

The perfect place was James' backyard.

Looking back, it seemed like a dumb conception for James. But this place was where he went to in order to cool off stress, or to study back in his teenage years. This was the place where his friends played, argued, and made up. He and his father, along with his friends, had built many cool inventions using only the resources available at the time, (glue, paper, paperclips, electrical circuits).

James sat down on a red beanie chair and looked around. The damp walls of the simplistic structure had slowly started to grow fungus over it, and the old table at the eastern side of the small house had many damp pages the shade of green. Even the tin roof and ceiling of the structure was starting to go green.

As James looked around, Roxie beamed down at him. She had been following him.

"Finally, he stopped!" Roxie clamored.

James sighed, getting up and walking towards the table full of papers. He read several of them, and many of them were documents written in important-looking typewritten writing. They all seemed important, and they were in fact important to James.

Roxie hovered over to James and peered over her shoulder. She could see strange fonts and long, descriptive paragraphs on something. When she paid more attention to what she was reading, she gave out a sudden yelp of consternation.

"I see..." Roxie muttered.

On the many important documents were lists of names regarding police officers. These police officers were corrupted officers who worked in Japan. On the top of one of the documents said the name: John W. Ari.

James read these documents, deep in thought, remembering how he had solved his father's murder case. His hypothesis, and his verdict, was that his father had been killed by the corrupt police officers listed in the papers. James, with the help of Kaibura, he hacked into Japan's Case Files, and had found the suspects. Many of the suspects had not been subject to any punishment.

Roxie hovered around the small house some more. She smiled, looking at the objects made out of paperclips. She was fond of such simple things. Roxie turned and looked at James, and with one last chuckle, threw the Death Note on to the floorboards of the club house.

Hearing the loud thud, James turned around and looked to where the noise had come from. Sure enough, he could see the Death Note lying on the floor. He walked over to it and stared down at the cover, examining where such a notebook had come from without him noticing this quickly. It looked as if it were made out of black leather. The bold lettering seemed to be in a unique font, and this font seemed to stand out to James.

"Death ... Note?" James said to himself.

Roxie chortled.

Good story. Now I'm gonna be heartless. Again, story is awesome, now for my cruel part that makes you think I hated it.

You need to get somebody else to come up with altered names, because you're really not that good at it. Ilyore = Eeyore? Leok = ...?
