RP Reference - Trainer Battles

At any time a trainer may challenge you to a battle. If you accept, it goes how normal battles go- turn by turn. If your speed is equal, the person who challenged will go first. The amount of PD put at stake is the challengers highest Pokemon's level times 50. So if you have a level 6 Squirtle for example, both Trainers will wager 300 PD. The winner gains 300, the loser loses 300. By default, everyone has 1000 PD, but this number will likely change often. If the person who is challenged doesn't have enough PD, the wager will decrease on both sides to all that they have.

Experience with a trainer battle, however, is different. Instead of being 2x the other Pokemons level, it's 2.5 x their level rounded up (ie, if I battle a level 7, I get 18 EXP) and there is no limit to how many battles you can have, unlike in certain routes where there is with wild Pokemon.

RP Reference - Moving

Per post, you can only move, at maximum, one time. For example, if I'm in route 1, and I want to go to viridian, then back to route 1, Going to viridian is one post, going back to route 1 is another post. This is to regulate speed in the RP. If I want to heal my Pokemon then go back to a route, it takes one post for each route I travel through.

"I see..." Gabriel muttered as Alice ran off. He turned to his challenger, Gabriel shook his head silently. "I just want to train right now, maybe after one battle..." He said as he left into the Route, out of the grass jumped a wild Pokemon, Gabriel with his Pokedex out, unintentionally scanned it. "Mankey; the Fighting type Pokemon." said the Pokedex. Gabriel smiled, he didn't care for a Fighting type, but he assumed it would be a good battle. He reached for his Pokeball, wondering which Pokemon he should bring out. "Abra for now, then Pidgey." He brought out his partner, who was asleep in the air.

Abra suddenly disappeared, reappearing and crashing into Gabriel. "Not teleport..." Gabriel muttered under his breath as he tried to get up. He stood and returned Abra, seeing that the Mankey was already gone. "Well then..." Gabriel said. "...noted that Abra randomly teleported--he may do it again." He told himself as he left Route 22 in search of the one who challenged him earlier.

Shane looked at his newly caught Mankey. He looked at his Pokedex and looked at the info on it. Mankey: The Pig Monkey Pokemon. A Fighting-Type, Mankey is light and agile on its feet, and ferocious in temperament. When angered, it flies into an uncontrollable frenzy. Shane continued to stare at the Pokeball... "Don't want to get this one angry..." He said with a sigh. After hearing about where Alice came from, he now knew what was a bit off about her... she was around dead Pokemon 24/7. "Well, I don't have the... er... opportunity to live next to dead Pokemon. I live in Cerulean City, a place where there is plenty of water. There's also this strange cave near the city... and it gives off a strange vibe... a strong one at that... The reason I want to become a Pokemon Trainer in the first place is because I figure there's a strong Pokemon in there, and I want to catch it..." Shane then walked father through the route... then of course...

Shane sighed, and then looked at Alice... "I know there are about 150 different Pokemon ALL throughout Kanto... but why do they always randomly appear?" He looked at Dratini, who must be a bit weak from all this battling. "I'll try to avoid a few battles for now... I gotta get to a Pokemon center..." He thought out loud.

Kenji would watch Gabe come near him, seeing as he had came back to accept his challenge. "Alright, let's do this!" he would say, pointing at his Squirtle as he told it to move forward, awaiting to see if Gabe accepted, or for his pokemon to come out. "Which one did he pick again...?" he would think to himself, wondering which Pokemon Gabe had again. "Oh yeah...Psychic." he would state, remembering that Gabriel had picked a Psychic type much earlier. Kenji would just stand there, waiting for Gabe's response, and to want to start the battle.

Gabriel stepped back a reasonable amount for a battle. He reached for his Pokeball, but then hesitated. Would Abra teleport again? A high chance. Gabriel took out the Pokeball and launched it up, "Go, Abra!" He commanded as the ball landed back in his hand, Abra being sent out. Gabriel stood ready, while Abra floated in the air.

RP Reference - New Moves

At every multiple of 8 your pokemon will learn a new move. Its around that time where you can get another one! In this RP, disregard PP, but if you have 2 moves, you can't use the same one twice in a row- thats the only rule. At level 8, your attacks have the following effect...


LEVEL 8 MOVE: "During damage calculation, adds 2 to your attack point. Ie; a Gastly with 10 ATK would fight a Pidgey with 5 DEF and it'd go like this...*

*If there is a type advantage over the other Pokemon, it does 1.5x the end result of damage.

Kenji would look towards Gabe, ready to begin the battle. "Let's do this! Squirtle, use tackle!" he would saw, his Squirtle running at the Abra and smashing it with his shell.

Gabriel readied for Kenji's next move.

Alice walked back towards Viridian but on the way spotted a Spearow. She nodded her head. "You know what to do Gastly!" Gastly attacked the spearow as usual, putting in extra effort.

The bird fainted quickly, and Gastly gained experience and the two walked towards Viridian. When they arrived, they went into the Pokemon center and Alice got Gastly healed up.

Kenji would look at his Squirtle, it taking damage from the Abras attack. "Hang in there, buddy!" he would say, not wanting his Squirtle to take too much damage. He would then look at his Squirtle, dashing forward. "Tackle!"

The Squirtle would look at the Abra, ramming into it, causing more damage.

"Your move." Kenji would say, impatiently as he waited for this fight to be over. He didn't know what Gabe was doing, or if he was holding back, but so far the fight seemed easy.

Shane figured his Dratini was up for one last battle before it has to rest, so he looked through the tall grass for one more Pokemon, so Dratini could at least get close to leveling up. And wouldn't you know it...

Shane noticed that there was a battle going on, and he decided to take a watch. It was between that one kid who joined him and Alice a while ago and some generic guy who he didn't even take notice of... he knew him from somewhere (Oak's lab)... but he can't put his finger on it.

Squirtle against Abra... this may or may not be interesting. He brought Dratini back into her Pokeball (After much debate, Dratini is now female x3). He watched the battle intently, planning to heal Dratini after he's done.

Gabriel pointed to Squirtle, "Come on Abra!" He shouted. "We can do this, tackle!"

Abra was still asleep, Gabe couldn't handle it, but he couldn't do anything. Abra then tackled, crashing again into the Squirtle with its force.

Gabriel hoped that Abra would survive the fight at least. "We can do this..." He muttered.

"Just who the hell do you think we are, Squirtle?!" Kenji would say, trying to give his Squirtle motvation as it would use a tackle on Gabriel's Abra.

"Is that all you got?" Kenji would say with a smirk, seeing if that was the end of the battle.

Gabriel was about to reach for his other Pokeball. He stopped, he knew he was beat. He simply left toward the Pokemon Center. Gabriel held the Pokeball containing his fainted Abra. "I'll train more, we'll do better, Abra." He said as he stepped into the Pokemon Center, healing his Pokemon, he stepped outside and looked toward Route 22, he felt he was too humiliated to try and walk over to Route 22, but he did anyway.

Kenji would look towards Gabe, smiling. "Great battle." he would say, grabbing on his pokeball as he returned his Squirtle. He would than walk over towards the pokemon center, healing up as he went back to the route. He would find an odd bird, pecking around at its surroundings. "What's that?" he thought, throwing out his Squirtle as he was ready to battle. The Squirtle would run forward, tackling the Spearow, nearly causing it to faint.

The Spearow would look at the Squirtle. It was angry, and would peck at the opponent, doing some damage.

"Squirtle, finish it!" he would say, smiling as the Squirtle would tackle the Spearow, causing it to faint.

Squirtle learned Water gun! Kenji would take Squirtle back to the Pokemon center and heal his pokemon. He would than wait outside the route for the others.

Shane saw Gabe end the battle short and head to the Pokemon center. He decided to follow, telling Alice he'd be at the Pokemon center as well. As he entered the center, surprised that he didn't run into any wild Pokemon. He healed his Pokemon after Gabe, and then said, "It's alright... It's just one battle, there'll be more." He then sat down at a table, and saw Gabe leave the center. He released Dratini and Mankey from their Pokeballs. They sat next to Shane, and tried to rest. He pat them, deciding to give them nicknames. "I've decided." Shane said, "I'll name you Dragyn" he said, pointing to Dratini, to which she nuzzled up to him. He looked at Mankey, wondering... "I can't think of a nickname for you, really..." Mankey didn't seem too upset about this, and went to sleep. Shane looked at the table, wondering what to do next.

Alice walked back to the route after healing Gastly, and at the very beginning, she saw a Spearow. "Alright, this will be the last one for the day, and then we'll head on back! Go, Gastly!" by this point Gastly knew the drill and attacked violently, swooping past leaving a faint trail of purple where he floated.

The Spearow fainted instantly allowing Gastly to feel quite strong.

"C'mon Gastly, lets head back to the Pokemon center... maybe we can challenge someone today! I think it'd be fun~" she said as she began her way back.

Gabriel arrived in the grass and was immediately attacked. In reaction, he brought out Abra to fight.

Gabriel commanded Abra to use tackle, and so it did, even though still asleep. Gabriel wondered when Abra would awake as it charged into the Mankey, an easier target due to its size. Mankey then returned the favor with a punch of its own on the Abra.

Gabriel proceeded after Mankey's attack. "Another tackle!" He commanded as Abra charged into the Mankey, causing it to faint and for Abra to be victorious.

Gabriel then trailed off again in search of another Pokemon to battle so he could become stronger. The image of Abra's defeat flashed whenever he was successfully hit by an attack. Gabriel tried to shake it off, he almost did for a moment, he decided he should train a bit more, maybe with Pidgey and then go back to Viridian City.

Kenji and his Squirtle would go up into the wild grass, for one last fight, before getting bored of the route. He would spot a Spearow, and want to engage in battle against it. It would be pecking on the floor, turning as it looked towards the Squirtle. "Let's do this! Squirtle, use water gun!" he would say with a grin, the Squirtle doing the command as the attack would hit the pidgey.

The Spearow would faint, as the Squirtle would get an easy victory. "I guess that's enough for me." he would say, returning his Squirtle as he would place his pokeball in his pocket. He would than head over towards the others, trying to find the one who lost to him before as well.

The team walked up north after being healed up and went on the route 2. They had no intentions of going any further, just to train for a little bit. They spotted a female Nidoran, hopping along, and Gastly swooped in for an attack.

The Nidoran jumped up and rammed into Gastly, doing some minor but noticeable damage.

Gastly attacked again doing the same damage as last time, knocking out the Nidoran.

Exp: 17/20 -> 27/20. -> Lvl 8. 7/25.

Level up! Gastly learned Night Shade.

Alice then spun around and decided she would head towards the Pokemon center, likely looking for someone to battle.

Kenji would follow Alice with a slight grin. "Let's do this!" he would say, throwing his Squirtle out as he saw a Male Nidoran, roaming around in the grass. He had already scanned one from the lab, and wanted to finally catch something new. "Go, Squirtle!" he would state, sending out his pokemon to do battle.

"Use Water Gun!" Kenji would say, trying to start off with a good lead as the Squirtle would shoot water its opponent.

"Go, Pokeball!" Kenji would say, tossing his pokeball at the Nidoran. He would sit there, waiting for the results to come in, hoping he would catch it.

Shane decided to get up out of the center and head back to the Route. He sent Dragyn and Mankey back into their Pokeballs and exited the center. As he approached the Route, he noticed Alice walking towards him. "Oh, hey." he said, as he walked towards her... and then...

Shane walked up to Alice, "I'm kinda getting a bit annoyed with all these random encounters..." Shane said.

After a quick trip to the Pokemon Center, Alice walked up to Shane. "Okay. Fight me!" she said. Gastly was floating all around her in circles, his eyes never leaving Shane, giving him a menacing look. "You up for it?" she asked, stepping back, leaving good room for the two Pokemon to battle.

"Uhhhhh..." Shane said, unsure. "I'd be happy to, but I'll have to heal up my Dragyn." he said, pointing to the Dratini he just nicknamed. "Wouldn't be quite fair if she fought your Gastly who's at full health." And he rushed back to the Pokemon center, healed up Dratini, and came back ASAP. "Alright, I'm ready." He said as he took Dragyn out of her Pokeball.

Shane waited patiently to see who would go first.

As the rules go, Alice knows the challenger strikes first if they have equal speed. "Go gastly! Use nightshade!" she yelled, as Gastly swooped up above the dratini leaving a heavy trail of darkness that hurt the small pokemon.

16(+2) -11/3 = 14.

Dragyn's HP: 8/22.

"Your move." Alice said smirking, already seeing the clear direction this battle would be going in.
