The Rise of the Captors

Part 1: The Deadly Fury of Speed and Accuracy

{A kind of attempt to make CCS look more mature, and write a story about it at the same time, when really CCS kind of failed because of... a lot of things. Loosely based so don't expect many Anime/Manga similarities!}

The elderly woman had short graying hair and long emerald dress; she approached the Clow and held it in her hands. “It’s time.” She said as she slowly pulled the latch off with little-to-no effort. And the red book with a chained beast in gold on the front. The cards flew out immediately and gracefully. They went right through the plaster walls as though the walls were some kind of liquid, and they immediately spread throughout the world. The Clow cards were ancient, they had something inside them, powers, abilities that could destroy the world, or reform it into something greater.
K yawned as Gabe and Kenji were already falling asleep under the tree. How could they sleep so easily? She walked over to Kenji and gave him a small kick, but he wouldn’t move; only a snore came out from the hibernating teen. Suddenly, she felt a strange feeling, one that warned her of something bad. She turned and instinctively looked up. The clouds became darker, much darker, and they started moving in such a way that it looked like a whirlpool. Thunder crashed and lightning fell upon the streets, but there was no one around. Kenji and Gabe wouldn’t wake up, they didn’t budge. As she looked around for a means of escape, a flash of lightning came down that made a huge crackle and crater in the middle of the street. K was unsure of it, she didn’t want to go near it, but her curiosity took her there.
In the middle of the crater was a huge, wolf-ish creature. The strange thing about it was, it was covered it lightning, blue and white lines of lightning made up the thing! It locked eyes with K, and made what looked like a grin, exposing its sharp lightning teeth. K wasn’t going to be intimidated, she stepped forward, closer and closer into the crater. It dashed right past her without warning. Leaving scars on her arm that burned with searing pain. She fell to the floor. Her scars opened up and began to bleed; she winced at the sight of blood. Turning around, the beast was getting ready for another attack. There was nothing she could do. The beast began taking steps back, and suddenly, K could feel something coming out of her wound, it was a line of blood, which just floated in the air for moments. Then, the blood did something that couldn’t have been real; it spun and spun until it turned black and red. She blinked once, twice, and saw that the blood had become a piano-black dagger, with lightning stripes of red on the sides of the blade. She instinctively grabbed it. Newfound courage inside her, she aimed it toward the beast and spoke “Son of a bitch. Want to deal with me now?” And she ran toward the beast, the shots of lightning passed her, but didn’t hit. She swiftly dodged them all as she ran. The beast roared loudly enough to shake the trees, but K didn’t get intimidated, and in a wise act, she threw the dagger with precision aiming right into the heart of the thing. It whimpered in protest as it tried to escape its fate, but it could not. The beast, in a blinding flash of light, was formed into a rectangular card, where the image of the beast lay. K held it in her hand as she retrieved the dagger. She read its name aloud.
“THE THUNDER”
A shot of lightning so intense that it made the dagger point upward shot out and disappeared into the heavens. K looked back at the card. Had it done that? What was this? What was the dagger? The questions didn’t stop as she suddenly passed out, falling down to the ground from the wounds of her battle.

Omnis lay there underneath a tree, his eyelids getting heavy. He then heard a meow, like a small cat would make. He stood up; his pure-white messy hair fell over one of his eyes as he saw something dash right pass him, blowing wind past his black polo shirt and old jeans. He turned, and it passed by again, at such a speed he couldn’t see it. As he continued turning around every time it passed, he wondered more and more about what it was. He fell back after being hit in the leg by the thing. And he saw it, gracefully in the middle of the backyard. It resembled a cat but it had longer and more pointed ears, and its tail that was longer than a normal cat’s tail, resembles a brush dipped in black paint at the end of the tail.
The strangest thing about it was this blue diamond on the forehead of the cat. The cat immediately shot toward Omnis, and he braced for it to hit him so he could catch it. It swiftly turned before crashing into Omnis, so Omnis did the same and managed to grab the cat by the tail. As he tried to pull it back, it swiftly escaped. He was getting frustrated, so he pulled out the only thing he had, a pen. The pen was a thin, ballpoint pen. Piano-black, and before he could do anything else, the pen tossed and turned in the palm of his hand, it suddenly flew up as if being dragged by an invisible force. The cat hissed, it knew what was going on, when Omnis was pretty confused.
The pen spun in the air, growing larger, and then glowing brightly, blinding Omnis for moments. When he opened his eyes, it wasn’t a ballpoint pen spinning, but a scythe the size of him. He instinctively grabbed the scythe and pointed it to the cat; the scythe had a white pole part, but a black blade. The cat attacked and made a cut on Omnis’ cheek that bled slightly. The cat hissed as it readied another attack and immediately pounced at an extreme speed, but Omnis could see it, Omnis could see the cat’s path this time, he swung the scythe down, aiming for the left, and immediately he could see it touch the tip of the cat’s forehead. It stopped there, the diamond glowed and the cat hissed in protest as it was sucked into the tip of the scythe.
Then another thing happened, a rectangular shape appeared, and a card appeared from the tip of the scythe, the card then floated to the ground. Omnis picked it up and quietly read the name.
THE DASH
He felt strange, and then, instinctively, he ran as quickly as he could, which much to his surprise was an extreme speed, he ran so fast that he almost crashed into a tree. He was confused at his new ability. And the scythe morphed into a smaller version of itself attached to a necklace, which wrapped itself around Omnis’ neck, while the card was in his hands. What was he supposed to do? What was this thing? He fainted randomly while turning back towards home, suddenly losing his breath.

The Rise of the Captors

Part 2: The Battle with the Sky

The woman in the emerald dress grinned. The cards have found their targets. It made everything easier. The woman let herself release a chuckle, but then, she realized something that made her grin disappear; there were not just four major cards… but six.
K and Omnis were out cold for a few days. In these few days, Kenji and Gabriel were going to have their encounters with the Clow themselves…
Gabriel was in his room, thinking of something to do. He was playing around with a small card case; it was plastic, mostly white with black edges. Gabe stood up and looked outside the window. He thought
about what happened to K, that she just fell unconscious, and whatever that thing was around her wrist, it looked like a weird black and red bracelet to Gabe. The card she had in her hand had been left at her bedside. Gabriel heard a rustling in his closet; it was a sliding-door walk-in closet, not very big, though.
Cautiously, he approached the door and put his hand on the cold handle and took a deep breath before ripping the door open. Nothing, he let out a sigh of relief. A tap on his window was heard, and when Gabe turned, he saw Kenji. “Why the hell do you ALWAYS decide to come through the window? It’s really annoying.” Kenji frowned. “But it’s fun!” Gabe rolled his eyes. “Whatever, any news on K?” “She’s okay, at least, that’s how she looked.” “I see.”
The two walked outside and headed onto K’s house to see if she would wake up. While they were walking, Kenji turned and asked the question on both their minds.
“What do you think that card was?” Gabriel stopped, but not because he was thinking about what to say, it was because he saw the strangest thing ever. It was an extremely large bird that resembled a swan, it had a large neck, Mohawk like spiked points at the top of its head and was pure white.
Looking in awe of the thing, Kenji and Gabriel didn’t notice what went right past them; it was a strange, pink rabbit with yellow, demonic eyes and pink floppy long ears, jumping high into the air. “What the hell is that!?” Kenji yelled. Gabriel was surprised at what they were. A giant bird and a bunny, what the hell was going on? Gabriel and Kenji ran simultaneously towards the things, their confusion led them toward there. They stopped; something was not right—besides the giant bird and speedy bunny. A voice came to the two of them, it was clear and loud in their minds.
“Capture them.”
“How?” they both asked, knowing they probably wouldn’t get an answer back. Their heads towards the beasts, Gabe immediately thought of K’s card and wondered if this meant the same thing, he shook his head, trying to get that silly idea out. The bird turned and swooped down from above towards Kenji, they jumped out of the way. Without remembering that they were on a low bridge, they fell into different side the bridge into a river. Gabe was able to get up, his head dizzy. He saw Kenji on the other side had fallen unconscious after hitting his head on the way down.
The bunny creature appeared in front of Gabe, its eyes filled with malice. It jumped high into the air and prepared for a dive down. As it came down, Gabe didn’t know what to do except to jump out of the way again, he needed some defense, some way to kill the thing, or at least stop it from killing him. Gabe ran back after dodging the thing, he looked around but only found a wooden pole left on the ground, probably by some kid. He grabbed it, it being his only defense and he braced for impact as the thing dash back, this time he wasn’t so lucky. It hit him right in the ribs, knocking the air out of him, Gabe could barely move. The thing was readying another attack, and Gabe weakly stood and held out the pole, his now best chance to live. The thing grinned as it dashed and Gabe felt a surge of energy as he stood, and in moments it was over. The bunny lay on the end of a spear—not a stick like Gabe once held, it was now a spear decorated with black markings that Gabe couldn’t understand. The creature had been incompetent enough to blindly charge and get itself killed. Then, something different than expected happened, the creature formed into a card, a rectangular card.
THE JUMP
Was what Gabe read aloud after grabbing the card. Gabe felt a strange feeling in his feet, like they were changing; he was soon standing like a dog would, on hind legs. His feet didn’t pop out of his shoes, but he felt that the card had changed his feet. Soon, the voice came into his mind again as Kenji was regaining consciousness. “Jump…” Gabe listened, he tried to jump, thinking he would look weird doing it, but did it anyway. A few seconds and Gabe was so high in the air, he was at the same height as the bird, he had jumped this high with that card, with The Jump. He slowly fell back down and touched the ground in a manner of seconds. Looking to Kenji, he saw that the bird was still around and concluded that it was Kenji’s job to get it, Gabe planned to help, but he saw that Kenji didn’t want it. He only stood and let Kenji fight his own battle. Literally.
Kenji shook his head and looked up at the bird. He had to get it, he couldn’t just let Gabe get all the glory. Kenji looked for something to get the bird, but at the moment there was nothing. When he looked again he saw a ladder going up the side of a roof that could lead to the bird. Kenji ran for it, as fast as he could, desperate. Climbing up, he was almost at the top when the thing swooped down again and brought a powerful gust with it, blowing the ladder back, Kenji risked his life by jumping off of it and grabbing onto the ledge of a window he was able to see before the ladder fell. Holding on desperately, Kenji thought of a way to get back up.
Looking down, he saw he could let go and land on a balcony, and he did. Landing quite roughly, Kenji got over it and tried to scale the barred windows, which he successfully did, even though he almost slipped quite a few times. He was able to lift himself on to the roof of the building. He stood and turned, trying to find the bird. There it was, on the other side of the large lake separating the east and west sides of his town. When Gabe saw him he yelled “Kenji! Are you insane!?” Kenji ignored him; he only kept his eyes on the huge bird. “Come on!” Kenji yelled in anger. “What are you waiting for!?” The bird flapped its wings as it began to fly up into the air and dived for Kenji.
Kenji felt like he was stupid, he was about to be crushed by a giant bird. Was it really worth it? But Kenji braced himself, and by bracing himself he was holding himself wide open and having his eyes open to witness the attack on him. He didn’t know what he was planning, but it sure didn’t seem sane. Gabe couldn’t let this happen, but he couldn’t interfere, even if it meant Kenji losing his life. Kenji readied as the bird’s speed and closeness increased. Then, he saw an opening, if he could time it just right, he could get the bird to crash into the building. This would take an extreme amount of luck, but he had to do it. The bird came and Kenji dived for his right. Yes! He had timed it right and the bird made a huge crash into the building. Gabe was surprised; Kenji did all that without a weapon. “Finish him!” Gabe was yelling. Now Kenji needed a weapon, the bird was injured and about to get up, but nothing was in sight. Kenji tried to grab a pipe that had broken off, but it wouldn’t do much, that is, until the next few moments. The pipe morphed before Kenji’s eyes into a sword about his arm’s length, and Kenji smiled, even though he had no idea how it happened. He firmly grasped the sword as he foolishly jumped off the building, swinging the sword down onto the head of the bird. When the sword hit the head of the bird, Kenji saw that the entire bird was morphing; it was changing, with bright lights that blinded Kenji for a few moments as he was stuck in the air, as though time had stopped. The bird became a card with a painting of the bird itself on the card. Kenji read the name on the card slowly as it activated itself.
THE FLY
Kenji’s sword glowed and two wings sprouted from each side of the thin guard. He jumped as the sword went under his feet and he was able to stand on it like a skateboard. It immediately flew off with him on it, not once did he ever feel himself slip. Gabe watched in amazement, he had the jump and Kenji had the fly, they were both similar, but then Kenji was so filled with pride that he didn’t look and crashed into a tree, he fell down onto the floor next to Gabe and the sword landed next to him as well. Gabe felt dizzy and Kenji lost consciousness again from the fall. The sword Kenji had disappeared and so did the spear, the cards they had fell next to them. Gabe couldn’t handle the headache he had and he fell, landing next to the card.
Even though she hadn’t completely been right about what was going to happen, she was still okay. The elderly woman appeared before Kenji and Gabe, she smirked as she approached them and said softly “Well well, I knew the cards would pick ones with excellent potential.”

The Rise of the Captors

Part 3: You Are Now Captors

Six white capsules the size of beds lined up in a circle, two were wide open, yet the other four were closed. The elderly woman who had released the Clow sat in the middle calmly drinking tea on an indigo blue pillow. One of the closed capsules slowly opened to reveal a sleeping Omnis, who opened his eyes, he looked up to see he was in a snow-white dome-shaped room, but the walls made it look like the room went on for miles. He held The Dash in his hand, not noticing until a few seconds later, he got out of the pod and looked around at the other pods, then to the old woman.
“Who… are you?” Omnis asked the elderly woman. “Introductions better saved for when everyone else is awake my dear.”
Omnis turned to the other pods, which were slowly opening. Coming out of the pods were people Omnis had not known. K, Kenji, and Gabe all woke up with the cards they acquired in their hands.
K looked around and asked “Where are we?” Kenji and Gabe looked at everyone else, “How did we get here?” asked Gabe.
The woman put down her tea and slowly spoke, “Well, looks like everyone’s awake,” She looked back at the pods that were already opened, “It seems the other two snuck off earlier.” K was getting even more confused. “What other two? Who are you and what do you want? Why did you bring us here?” The woman said nothing. Anger forming in K, her bracelet suddenly expanded and went into the palm of her hand, forming into the red and black dagger from earlier.
The woman smiled again, “I guess you’re the woman that triggers it through rage.” “Rage? Excuse me?” K said as she held the dagger out. “You better start explaining now.” The woman viewed her as no threat. “I guess I should start the introductions. I am Rose; I keep the Clow until the time for the Captors arrives.” She paused, as though expecting questions. “What is the Clow? And what are ‘Captors’?” asked Omnis. “Well, you are the Captors, and the cards you hold are the Clow.”
“Excuse me? Can you explain?” asked K.
“Well, I won’t go into much detail, but, the Clow are spirits who live inside cards, they have the power to destroy, or save the world. Captors are born every few centuries to decide what to do with the Clow. So the Clow cards are released every time Captors are born, I ensure that this goes on well. You have all been given mediums, weapons of sorts that allow you to harness the power of the Clow.”
It took the whole group a moment to absorb what they had just heard. K was the skeptical one. “So you’re saying we’re all specially born to catch these spirits and that us, four—maybe six kids are supposed to decide the fate of the earth? You have got to be kidding me.” Rose turned back to K, “The past judgments have all been different, and they’ve all been done by people of your age, so why can’t you do it?” Kenji then added to the skepticism by pointing out something, “Then why doesn’t everyone know about the people who have passed judgment on the world.” “You do, just they haven’t announced themselves.” Rose responded, to which Omnis said “But, we’re kids, how are we going to decide the fate of the world?”
This is where Rose took a deep breath and then continued. “This journey will change you all forever. When you kids emerge from the journey, some of you will be scarred, and others will be much wiser, and others will lose the will to live. This journey will change you from kids… into something of greater worth.” As Rose ended she left everyone silent, but the question hung in their minds. What exactly was the thing of greater worth? They didn’t know, they were just kids, all fourteen, none of them thought they were ready for such a responsibility.
_____A young couple, a blonde woman with blue eyes, wearing a black dress and a man with piano-black hair, black eyes and blue jeans with a long-sleeved black shirt, walked along the side of the lake. The night’s light made their eyes sparkle and they smiled at each other softly, then they saw something strange, it was something large moving in the water. The woman pointed it out first, but they were still convinced it was nothing, until the water began to spin, it turned into a whirlpool, but they felt like something was pulling them into the lake.
Water splashed on the woman’s dress and a huge line of water shot out and pulled the woman right in, the man tried to grab her, but failed, so he jumped in after her. The two were under the water, the man trying to pull the woman back and hold his breath. Suddenly, in the distance in the water he spotted something that looked like a mermaid, with strangely pointed ears, her hair was flowing as though it was a part of the water. He was distracted, and suddenly all the water pushed down on the two, crushing their bones with the pressure, and when they could no longer move, the water entered them and they began to slowly drown.
A young girl, probably the age of four, looked into the lake and saw the bodies with red liquid flowing out of tears in their skin, convinced they were sleeping, she pulled her mother’s hand and said “Mommy, why are those two people sleeping in the water?” The mother turned, “What?” And she was horrified by what she saw, shielding her child’s eyes, she quickly dialed 911 on her cell phone and tried to explain to them that two people just drowned in the lake. When the ambulance got there, they saw that these people had their bones crushed, as they were tossed into the lake to die.
“That’s some fucked up shit what some people come up with.” Said a cop who had appeared at the scene. “Sure is, feel bad for the poor girl that found them, and I feel worse for anyone who knew them.” Said his partner, “Do you think they got involved in something gang-related or even mafia related?” The first man asked. “Well, there are some gangs round here, but mafia-related? Come on man.” The mermaid creature looked up from the bottom of the lake and its ears twitched a bit. It lay back down at the bottom of the lake and let itself be hidden by the seaweed as it awaited for more prey in its malice.

The Rise of the Captors

Part 4: Teamwork

Rose told the group that they would have to find all of the Clow cards. She didn’t seem bothered when they questioned, or made skeptical remarks. “So, to sum it up, all we have to do is find the spirits of the Clow and form them back into their card forms?” Asked Omnis, who saw that Rose quite enjoyed the questioning. “Yes… but, there are some other things. You’ll just have to find out for yourself.” And K wondered about that statement, she was about to ask something when Gabriel interrupted and asked his own question. “So you were the one I heard?” Rose’s expression changed, “What? You heard something?” K and Omnis looked at Gabe, but Kenji was feeling the same, he had heard a voice when he went up against the bird. Kenji stood up and asked another question “I heard it too, what was it?” He saw that Rose was hiding something, and so did everyone else. Rose shook her head a bit and murmured something that sounded like “Why so early?” she turned to the group of kids and said “The door’s behind you, just go, you have cards to capture.” She smirked and wave as everyone left the room and exited into the front of the lake where Kenji had fought the bird.
_______“Well, that made no sense whatsoever.” Omnis exclaimed. “What are your names anyway? I’m Omnis.” Gabe stood up and said his name, K after him, and then Kenji. Though K was still uneasy, she felt something bad about Rose, yet she couldn’t figure out why. Each of them thinking about what just had happened were interrupted by the sudden appearance of some sort of sandstorm over on the other side of the lake. “I guess it’s time to get ready.” Said K, which made Gabe and Kenji realize, they didn’t know how to bring out their weapons. K’s bracelet expanded and morphed into the dagger and Omnis tore off his necklace to let it transform. Gabriel wondered back and picked up a twig, focusing as much as he could, and in moments he saw it as the spear again. He tossed Kenji a branch that broke and watched as it turned into a sword.
______The door was shutting behind them, as Rose could be seen with a look of excitement on her face. The sandstorm stopped at the edge of the lake, everyone readied their weapons, and then they saw why it had stopped, a huge fish, ice blue with a pink diamond on its forehead, pop out of the water, ice crystals glittering in its path. “Another!” Kenji exclaimed, “I’ll take the fish.” Said Gabe with a grin as he firmly held his spear, “Go then, Gabe.” K advised. Gabe listened, he ran towards the lake with the spear as the fish came down. The water was almost completely frozen, except for few spots that the fish jumped out of occasionally. Gabe brought The Jump card and wondered how he can activate it, and it came to him.
____Gabriel threw the card out and sliced the spear down, the spear’s tip landed right in the middle of the card. “Clow card, the Jump, lend me your strength!” He exclaimed as a strange circle with many stars in one inside it appeared, having a moon and sun symbol inside it, the circle disappeared as the card did, and Gabe’s legs turned into hind ones again. As the fish jumped high in the air again, so did Gabe. Back where the group was, Omnis turned around to speak. “So who wants to go for the huge sandstorm?” Kenji raised his hand and before anyone could say anything, he did what Gabe did except with the Fly and flew off on his blade. “This leaves us.” Omnis said to K. “Not exactly,” she responded as a person who looked exactly like K appeared. K readied her blade, and so did the other K. Then, another Omnis appeared and it just got more confusing, he had a scythe as well. “I guess we’re not sitting this one out, really.” K sighed as the other her just tried to copy her.
_____As for Kenji, he was flying around above the sandstorm to get a better look at it when suddenly a huge arm of sand came up and tried to grab him. He dodged it, but barely, he flew higher up but could not get high enough to stop the sand from trying to grab him. Gabe was having worse trouble; he wasn’t able to get a clear shot without almost being frozen by the ice crystals of the fish. K and Omnis’ twins blocked every attack they made, which was making it difficult for them to fight.
_________The fights were getting troublesome, and at one point, K’s copy landed a kick to her back. The copies were seemingly impossible to beat. Kenji also had to find a way to get into the middle of the storm. K tried to used Thunder, but missed and shot toward the sandstorm, which turned a portion of the wall of sand it touched into glass. That was it! Kenji had to turn it into glass! He looked toward K and flew to her, when he reached her he asked her if she wanted to switch cards for a bit, she agreed because she needed something different to beat her copy. And Kenji ran to the edge of the lake opposite to where the sandstorm was, but now the sand was angry, it flew out in random spikes of huge arms of sand at Kenji. Quickly he yelled “Thunder, give me the power of your lightning!” While activating the card, and Kenji shot out lightning bolts as the arms of sand formed into a huge one.
__Gabe was able to hit the fish once, but after hitting it, the point of his spear was almost frozen, and K with Omnis wasn’t helping much either, the Fly card helped her get a better advantage though, since it formed onto her feet, and she could use that to keep herself up. K took her best aim and hoped the dagger was going to hit, but she was interrupted by the sound of Omnis being hurt. He had gotten cut by the copies scythe. “Damn!” he yelled as he grabbed at his wound in his left arm, with his right arm he picked up the scythe again and successfully activated the Dash, but so did the copy, and they both went at high speeds at each other. Scythes clashing and clinking, but neither could hit the other. Then it hit K, she the copies were going to copy everything they did. She flew back to the ground as she devised her plan.
_______Kenji’s plan worked and the huge wad of sand formed into a huge wall of glass, stuck there. He grinned as he then stabbed his sword into the center and yelled “Return to the form you were meant to be, Clow Card!” The huge wall of glass morphed itself into a rectangular card like the Fly did.
THE SAND
Kenji was about to give K back her card when he saw that Gabe needed help and thought about how lightning could go through the water and destroy the fish. “Gabe!” He yelled out and Gabe turned around, he saw that Kenji held up the Thunder and he knew what he meant. Gabe jumped towards Kenji and grabbed the Thunder on the way down.
_______He immediately activated the thunder and pointed towards the hole in the lake, the lightning bolt went swiftly, then in a huge crack, the ice exploded into tons of pieces and the fish flew out and landed on the grass beside the lake. Gabe took the chance and jabbed his spear into it, repeating what Kenji said. The fish shrunk into its card self, which showed the fish in a jumping out upwards position.
THE FREEZE
K told Omnis to switch places, and they did, it worked out better than expected, and it was helpful because of a misfired lightning bolt from Kenji hit the K copy, immobilizing it, K was able to get the upper hand on the Omnis copy by dodging an attack and made it look like she was going to activate The Fly. Jabbing her dagger into the Omnis copy as Omnis put the scythe into the K copy, they both yelled the incantation and then, the copies merged together into one card, surprising them both. “They were one card?” K asked. The card showed two boys in jack in the box outfits sleeping.
THE TWIN
“Then who gets it?” Gabe asked as he arrived on the scene. “You can have it, Omnis.” K said as she gave the card over to him. “Thanks.” Omnis said, and everyone returned their original cards they borrowed to each other. Then they were stuck with Omnis’ problem. “Where am I supposed to stay?” He asked. Which left the group confused, “We could all sleep at my house tonight, and then we’ll decide from there.” K suggested, and everyone else agreed, they were too tired from the battle to argue anyway. They all walked off in direction to K’s home to get some rest.
