Noob Guidelines Empty Noob Guidelines

Post by Arashi Sat Jul 05, 2008 5:29 am

What is a noob? They are generally an annoying idiot. What are they on DNO? Idiots who can't seem to RP properly and just make the game bad for others.

I am classified as a "moderately good RPer". This means I know enough to not mess things up. A noob can take all I do and throw it down the drain. People like this have made me want to stop playing, so here is a list of guidelines that people should follow to make sure everything runs like it would RP. I know tons of things like this topic have been made, but I have seriously seen enough of it...

Shinigami-
Don't just go around killing people. Please. At least if you kill someone, pretend to RP dead. And make sure to tel everyone that you died.

Kira-
Kill ONLY if you have seen the persons face and discovered their real name by someone teling you. This means that if the person is like me and uses their real name for their alias, only kill them through other means. An exeption is if someone makes a Prisoner NPC for you to use. Also, Kira kills criminals, not ordinary people. So please, kill PRISONERS. That means robbers, murderers, whatever. As long as they're in jail or should be in jail.

L-
You only know that Kira uses a Death Note and that he needs a name and face. Multiple times when I played as L, I bluffed a few things, saying that we knew that Kira had them (eg. Shinigami, Slingshot), but that's as far as it goes. In fact, try to RP that you don't know about the Death Note.

N-
You don't know anything about Kira besides what you discover and what L announces.

Everyone-
You don't just magically know peoples names. Don't just call someone by their alias, make sure to ask them first. It is a pain, I know, but this is RP.

Keep OOC (Out of Character) in the OOC channel, unless putting it in double or single brackets to signify it is OOC. Likewise, keep IC (In Character) in the IC Channels (Shout, Say, etc.)

And that preety much concludes it, although I'm sure there are more.

One, How does '' L '' know '' Kira '' has a death note like you said. Most servers don't allow the computer to be used to acquire data on '' Kira ''.

Two, Near shouldn't be addressed as '' N '' till '' L '' dies ( So just Near ), He can use information of which '' L '' has announced, but to a certain extend. ( Should be located at the Wammy house a lot )

Last but not least, I find the word '' Noob '' degrading, since they might of just began to play Dno ( Death note online ). Also we all use to be '' Noobs '' at a certain point, but developed to decent Role-players

1. Okay, thanks for that.

2. Once again, thanks, I said that I most likely forgot a few things.

3. If the person had any brains they wouldn't be classified as noobs.

They shouldn't be labeled as a '' noob '' if they make a mistake.

Remember we all make mistakes, it's okay.

And there's a big difference between a noob and a newb.

It was a good idea for a topic; however it is also degrading. Nobody except Zarkus, K, and Kaibura have the right to classify a "noob"

To clarify more on Ryuzaki's post...

A newbie has yet to play enough to learn the rules--though typically the server rules are posted on login, sometimes hosts don't take the time to put it in, or sometimes OOC is so filled with spam and such that nobody has the chance to read it... of course there are also the people who just don't like to read it =/ Anyways though, they don't know the rules....

... whereas a noob has played on several occasions and has been informed repeatedly, at least twice, of the rules and infractions he/she has committed and continues to break the rule with no regard to an elder player or to a Helper, ENF, GM, GM2, Owner, etc(If I left any out).

Listen, you shouldn't be putting that out like that. Please, don't call people "noobs", because generally, it's very disrespectful, and is that a proper guide? It's not stating how to roleplay, State your "noobs" as "New Players" or "New". Also, you shouldn't have so much inaccurancies, been there, done that, don't act like you have never been a New Player before, I think you have.

Kira doesn't have to be like Light/Misa/Mikami. Their motives can be whatever they want, like when I was M and was given the note, and I used it to kill off rival gangs, while letting L assume I was just arbitrarily killing off criminals.

Arashi wrote:You only know that Kira uses a Death Note and that he needs a name and face.

I know this has been said, but NOBODY knows ANYTHING about Kira. L can claim to have 'figured it out', but even then, they'll need evidence to prove it. Considering that Kira themself doesn't know the full extent of their power until they learn it or are told by their Shinigami, and even most Shinigami don't know that they can die through misuse of the notebook, L instantly knowing is a little... odd.

On the actual subject of the post, 'noobs', I agree with Ryuzaki, Xiar & Kurumu, calling someone a noob when they're actually just new (ergo newbie/newb) is pretty insulting. As they said (god, I sound like a dictaphone) we were all new once, and someone's gotta be pretty stupid to remain a noob after figuring the game out.

And now back to what I was actually meant to be doing...

What Arashi is trying to say are the differences between a noob or a newb.

But I agree with you upon the matter when it comes with inaccurate information upon the various roles.

Urgh. Kurumu, sorry but... People will always call people noobs. You shouldn't tell people not to, freedom of speech-- when it's well deserved, that is. Heh.
Are you also trying to midi mod ever since you -fail- attempted to get Zarkus to suggest you as Helper?

Puh-lease.
Just stop while you're ahead, please & thanks.

As K said, it's all a freedom of speech. There will always be noob out there. Also, you seem to not know what the differences of being a noob or a newb are. Noobs aren't "new" players as you have stated in prior posts. Newbs are new, so we will address "newbs" as new players. But, to state new players as "noobs" are quite moronic in a sense.
